Tip of the Month:

More Time to Cross

Aug 13, 2019

If you need more time to cross a specific intersection in your area or on a frequent route, you have options. First, you need to figure out which agency is in control of that intersection. Is it a state highway? Within Portland city limits? In a different city or county?

If it is a state highway like Powell (Hwy 26) or 82nd Ave., it will be controlled by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT). In that case, you could call the "Ask ODOT Line" at (888) 275-6368 and choose Option #6.

If the intersection is within the Portland city limits, you can call the Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT). Specifically, Adam Moore, with PBOT Signals and Lighting. Adams phone number is (503) 823-5435. PBOTs general number is (503) 823-5185.

If the intersection is not a state highway or in the city of Portland, you need to call your citys or countys main phone number or try the local public works number for assistance.

If you still need help, call the Hull Foundation for the Blind and we will try to find out which jurisdiction the intersection is under. The Hull Foundation: (503) 668-6195
